AGE: 25
OTHER CHARACTERS PLAYED: N/A

IC Information
CHARACTER NAME: Nala
AGE: Actual age approximately 12 years of age, equivalent to around mid 30’s
CANON: The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride
CANON POINT: Just after the battle between Zira’s pride and Simba’s, after Kiara is saved from falling in the river.
FAMILY TYPES: Nature Spirits: Nala is not inherently good or evil in the typical sense, simply doing what is needed for survival, she has also been both loud and energetic as well as calm and collected. Virus Busters: While not inherently good by a typical sense Nala has a strong moral code that puts helping others as an important thing. Unknown: Originally being an animal she is neutral in a very true sense, she does not hurt others out of spite, but will do what she has to in order to protect those dear to her.
APPEARANCE: Nala is changed from her natural appearance as a lioness to that of a human. She is compact in build, only coming about an inch or so over 5’, with dense but lean muscles, reflecting her natural state as a hunter. She has a heart shaped face with slightly almond shaped eyes that are still her natural blue-green eye color. Her skin tone is dark, not tanned, but rather a ethnic skin tone that sits in the mid-browns range. Her hair is cropped short and ethnic in nature as well, though the tips seem bleed of the dark color and are a golden shade. Her hands and fingers are thick, reflecting the nature of her paws, and she is in no way a delicate build.
PERSONALITY: In the past Nala was a happy, rambunctious cub who was adventurous, especially when she was with Simba, feeding off her best friend’s eager nature. She was rough and tumble, often overcoming Simba in nimbleness and strength. Though she calms down as she grows, under Scar’s reign, she does not lose her taste for adventure when encouraged, which happens easiest around Simba. Her friendship with Simba, now that both he and her were adults, transforms into love.

After Simba left Nala watched as Scar became king of the pride lands, bringing the hyenas with him. Under the harder lifestyle that Scar created for the pride Nala lost some of her fun loving and adventurous nature, hardening in personality and becoming much more shrewd. She became an excellent hunter, one of the best in the pride, which served to benefit her and the pride as the pride lands lost their abundance of prey. She became very focused, often channeling this into her hunting or her attempts to protect the pride.

She has a friendly relationship with Timon and Pumbaa, though nowhere near as close as Simba is with them, she has welcomed them into her life without complaint. Zazu has been a friend for some time, though he was an easy target for teasing while she was a child. She has always been respectful of Rafiki, having a lot of respect for the wizened baboon.

More recently Nala has become a mother, which she is at her most base nature. Protective and strong, she guards her family and friends with a ferocity that is hard to match. She nurtures those around her, often using her softer personality to blunt others may come off sharper than they intend. She can be very soft spoken when it is suiting for the situation. She is kind and caring, willing to open her heart up to many, finding herself quick to bypass some misdeeds, or perceived ones, to look and see the person inside. She is a strong judge of character and situations, and more often than not shows exceptional tact and intelligence at various times. It is clear that becoming a mother has helped her mature even more than any other event in her past. With her daughter, Kiara, Nala often end up the softer parent, being more willing to allow the cub to enjoy herself than Simba is; she also is a friend to her daughter, someone who isn’t turned away for affection.

As well as her motherly ways she is the head lioness of a pride and can exudes the authority when it is needed, as well as show leadership abilities. She can be determined and even war-like, fighting for her home and her family when she thinks it must happen. She is also very strong willed, not allowing what others to take charge of her or direct her against her wishes. She is dedicated to any task she decides on and tries her best to do what she feels is right, even if it isn’t exactly what the people around her are expecting. She shows loyalty to those who have earned it from her, following them with the same dedication and strong will she shows in other aspects of her life.

A mother and leader she is also a kind and dedicated mate, she is wise in many ways and often offers her wisdom to those who will listen. She is not afraid of failure, not that she does not think she will experience it, but that she has experienced it often enough that it has become just another aspect of life to her, something to grow and learn from rather than dwell on. She is also playful in many ways, tending to teasing and some rough housing when things are in a calm enough air to do so.

When it comes to relationships Nala is very open to forming new ones though she uses some judgement about how quickly to care deeply about people. Simba, as Nala's childhood friend and mate, is someone deeply important to her, despite their time apart she does her best to treat him still as her best friend, joking with him and teasing him, but she cares much more about him now, expressing serious worry when he is injured. Nala takes some time to include Timone and Pumbaa as her friends after she meets them, unsure what to make of Simba's uncommon friends, but once she opened up to them Nala became decent friends with them, and they are certainly people she feels she can trust such as around her daughter. Now that she is grown Nala has a lot of respect for Zazu, understanding better the work he does, she is willing to listen to him now and not as quick to dismiss him.

Rafiki likewise is someone Nala shows great respect to now that she is much older. During his life she had a lot of respect for Mufasa, Simba's father, and he is the vision of a king of the pride that she initially expected of Simba when she found him alive. Scar only ever produces feelings of hatred, Nala having suffered greatly during the false king's reign, including Scar suggesting she become his queen at one point. She holds no fondness for Zira or any of the other lionesses that continued to support Scar even after his downfall, though Zira is main individual who creates this as she is the strongest supporter.

When Kovu was a cub he wasn't someone Nala felt concerned with, though she became impressed by him once he had grown up and saved Kiara, Nala deciding to give him the chance to show who he is as a person. Similarly she becomes willing to change her opinion on the other lionesses that had once been Scar's supporters, even showing willingness to let Zira rejoin the pride.

THIRD PERSON:
To say that it had been a stressful and exhausting day was understating the truth. When her mate had been returned, wounded, from an attack by the outlander lions, with Kovu’s assistance, she had not wanted to believe that he had done such a thing, but she was less willing to disbelieve Simba’s words. It had been heartbreaking to hear that Kovu had been a part of the attack on her mate, she had such high hopes for the young male to make a good mate for her daughter, but she could not be blind to the truth just because of her hopes.

Then Kovu had returned, looking the image of his predecessor with the scar cut over his eye. The evil she had suffered during Scar’s reign as king had awoken in her heart, but it warred with the lost and frightened image she saw of the younger male standing there as her mate passed judgement on him, exiling him. She was torn between her mate and her daughter as he listened to Kiara cry out. She paced outside the den as feelings warred within her, on one paw she knew Simba worked hard to be fair, but he could be too strict sometimes; on the other paw she remembered seeing more to Simba when they were younger, when he denied his true past, but she also knew her grown cub had a tendency to be too impulsive.

With a deep sigh she turned to enter the den, seeking to try to comfort her daughter, but when she stood inside it was clear the den was empty, a small hole broken out of the back of the chamber. Panic flooded Nala, Simba had already been attacked and now Kiara was gone, fear of losing her daughter to an attack from the outlanders spurred her to spin around and race from the den. “Kiara’s gone, she’s not in the den.”
